Purpose The purpose of this website was to benefit you and the world with information regarding Georgia’s Colonial History. This website contains different aspects about Georgia’s Colonial History including information on James Oglethorpe, the Charter of 1732, Reasons for Settlement, Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and Savannah. All of which played a major role in the beginning of what we know today as Georgia. Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) SS8H2 The student will analyze the colonial period of Georgia’s History. a. Explain the importance of James Oglethorpe, the Charter of 1732, reasons for settlement(charity, economics, defense), Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and the city of Savannah. STL 7 Students will develop an understanding of the influence of technology on history. ELAW2 the student demonstrates competence in a variety of genres the student produces technical writing(business correspondence, letters of application and letters of recommendation, resume, abstracts, user guides or manuals,web pages).
